B.Sc Admission 2026 at IFTM University: Courses, Fees, Eligibility, and How to Apply

IFTM University•7 Nov 2026

A B.Sc is the most flexible science degree in India. It can lead to a teaching job, a lab, a pharma company, a food processing plant, or a masters degree that opens research and government exams. At IFTM University in Moradabad, the degree comes in 11 specialisations, and admission is based on Class 12 marks or a CUET score. This guide covers the courses, the eligibility rules, the fees, and the application steps.

Which B.Sc courses IFTM offers

IFTM runs its B.Sc programmes through the School of Sciences. The standard degree takes three years. Selected specialisations also offer a four-year B.Sc (Hons with Research), which adds a research project in the final year and suits students who plan to apply for M.Sc or PhD programmes later.

The specialisations on offer are Biotechnology, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Home Science, Food Technology, and Agriculture. Agriculture is a separate four-year B.Sc (Hons) programme with its own admission page on this blog. The remaining specialisations share one admission process, so a single application can cover your preferred choices if you list them in order.

Pick the specialisation with the career behind it in mind. Biotechnology and microbiology feed into pharma, diagnostics, and food safety labs. Physics, chemistry, and mathematics keep the widest set of government exams and teaching jobs open. Botany and zoology suit students aiming for forest services, environmental work, or school teaching. Food technology is the most industry-facing of the lot, with jobs in processing plants and quality control.

Eligibility: the 45 percent rule

Admission to B.Sc at IFTM requires a pass in Class 12 from a recognised board with at least 45 percent aggregate marks. For SC and ST candidates the minimum is 40 percent. You also need the relevant subjects in Class 12 for the specialisation you want. Physics, chemistry, and mathematics are the core subjects for the PCM group, while physics, chemistry, and biology are the core subjects for the life science group.

IFTM accepts CUET UG scores for B.Sc admission. A CUET score is not the only route in. The university also admits students on the basis of merit in the Class 12 examination, which is how most seats are filled. If you sat CUET UG 2026, report the score; if not, your board marks are the basis of selection.

Fees: what a B.Sc actually costs

Total tuition for a B.Sc at IFTM ranges from about Rs. 39,000 to Rs. 1.8 lakh for the full three or four years, depending on the specialisation. The lowest-fee specialisations are in the basic sciences, while food technology sits at the top of the range. Hostel fees run from about Rs. 1.35 lakh to Rs. 1.8 lakh for the course, so the all-in cost for a hosteller lands roughly between Rs. 2.09 lakh and Rs. 4.05 lakh. These are estimates compiled from the university fee structure and aggregator listings, and the university can revise them. Confirm the exact figure on the admission portal before paying.

Two cost breaks matter. First, IFTM offers a 50 percent tuition fee waiver to students who scored 90 percent or above in their qualifying examination. If your Class 12 score is in that range, say so in your application and ask the admission office to apply the waiver at the time of admission, not after the fee is paid. Second, students from Uttar Pradesh can apply for the UP Scholarship, which is run by the state government and covers tuition and maintenance for eligible students based on category and family income. The scholarship is separate from the university and has its own application window, so file it on the state portal as soon as it opens.

How to apply

Applications go through the IFTM admission portal on the university website, iftmuniversity.ac.in. The steps are the same for every UG programme.

  • Register on the portal: create an account with a working mobile number and email address. All later messages, including merit list alerts, go to these.
  • Pick the programme and specialisation: select B.Sc and list your specialisation preferences in order. You can change the order before the final submission, not after.
  • Upload documents: Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates, a CUET scorecard if you have one, a photo ID, and a passport photo. Keep scanned copies ready before you start.
  • Pay the application fee: the portal accepts online payment. Save the receipt. It is the proof of application if anything goes wrong later.
  • Document verification and fee payment: shortlisted candidates are called for document verification and then pay the admission fee to confirm the seat. A seat is not yours until the fee is paid.

The academic session for 2026-27 began in August 2026, and admissions for most UG programmes have been running in final rounds, with spot admissions for remaining seats. If you are reading this late in the year, check the portal first. A seat in a popular specialisation such as biotechnology may already be full while another still has places.

What comes after the degree

A B.Sc is a starting point, not a destination, and the useful question is what you plan to do in year two, not just year one. The common routes are M.Sc in the same subject, which opens teaching and research; B.Ed, which opens school teaching jobs in UP and other states; and direct entry into industry, where food technology, biotechnology, and microbiology graduates find lab and quality roles.

Government exams are the other big lane. A B.Sc keeps you eligible for SSC, banking, railway, and state PSC exams, and the science background helps in the general science sections of those papers. For students who want to stay in science, the combination of a B.Sc followed by M.Sc and then NET or GATE is the standard path to a lectureship or a research fellowship.

One practical tip: start building a lab record early. In a general science degree, the students who get the better M.Sc seats and the better lab jobs are the ones who can show hands-on work. Volunteer for department projects and keep a record of every practical you complete.

Planning ahead: CUET UG 2027

If you are in Class 12 now and targeting the 2027-28 session, the exam to watch is CUET UG 2027. Applications are tentatively expected to open in January 2027, with the exam held in May. Registering for CUET keeps two doors open at once: IFTM and every other university that admits through CUET. Pick your CUET subjects to match your target specialisation, because the subject combination in CUET decides which programmes you can apply to.

Between now and the exam, the useful work is the board syllabus itself. CUET science papers test the Class 12 syllabus, so board preparation and CUET preparation are the same work for most students.

The bottom line

A B.Sc at IFTM costs between about Rs. 39,000 and Rs. 1.8 lakh in tuition for the full course, needs 45 percent in Class 12 with the right subjects, and admits through board merit or CUET. Pick the specialisation by the job behind it, apply with the stronger of your board marks and CUET score, and file the UP Scholarship application on the state portal in parallel.
